Twenty five panoramic photos of Bat-Yam homes, printed on large scale posters and displayed on bus stops in town, create a route of “House Calls”. Domestic space is the guest of public space , in the guise of the bus-stop, which acts as a virtual extension. The street and the commuters reflected on the photographed homes are transformed into house guests.
A diverse group of residents participated in a workshop dealing with the nature of imaginary and actual domestic space, as related to the concept of hospitality. The definitions arrived at were taken back to each participant’s home, where the individual narratives that surfaced during the group sessions were noted and photographed. The bus-stop billboards tell the story of our cravings and present us with codes of observation and control. "House Calls " displays temporary images of members of the Bat-Yam community who are active in events that are reshaping the town. Will this temporary installation settle in?
